United Tractor & Equipment (Pvt) Ltd. was formed in 1947 to be the sole distributor of Caterpillar Products in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). The growth of the modern construction industry for local Engineers started in 1948 with Caterpillar machines being used for the Gal Oya Project soon after achieving Independence in 1947. The leadership of this closely held family business continued its commitment to providing the best quality products to ensure customer satisfaction and setting the industry standard for Service that built and continues to build loyal customers from generation to generation.
Many other Internationally recognized brands of industrial equipment that encompass a multitude of diverse industries in Sri Lanka, from Construction to Power, Energy, Logistics, Transportation, Manufacturing, Ports, Airports, Health, Hospitality including even Environment Control were introduced by United Tractors to assist in the long term growth of industries in Sri Lanka
